Home alone toddler found dead

RAHMAN DAROS
SELAYANG: A mother left her toddler home alone and will live the rest of her life regretting it.
The 29-year-old housewife, known only as Ong, left her home in Taman Templer, Rawang, at 9am on Friday to send her other two children to school.

She left her 14-month-old son Wu Thon alone because her hus band was away for two days.

When she returned, she found Hoo wrapped in a towel, un conscious and not breathing.

Gombak acting police chief Superintendent Abdul Karim Abu Hassan said the woman sent her son to Selayang Hospital.

“As soon as they arrived, the doctor pronounced the baby dead. The hospital informed us about the incident at 11.08am,” he said.

Abdul Karim said a post-mortem will be carried out on Saturday.

“At the moment, we cannot confirm the cause of death. But there were bruises on the toddler’s neck.

“We are not sure if the child was strangled as we have to wait for the post-mortem re port,” he added.

Abdul Karim said police are investigating the case and have yet to classify it.
Ong, who was alone at the Selayang Hospital mortuary yesterday, refused to speak to the Press.

It is also learnt that at Press time, neither Ong nor her husband had given statements to the police.

“We are waiting for her husband to return before we take their statements,” said Abdul Karim.

I am a mother of a 16 months old daughter. My one and only precious little one. I try hard not to leave her alone for even one second, even if she is strapped to her stroller.

We parents have to learn and remind ourselves time and time again...never ever ever take things around us for granted, thinking nothing could ever go wrong. Mind you I even have a pink harness for her to ensure that she would be attached to me while she walks. Call me being cruel, but I am just trying to make sure that I won't lose sight of her. I would tahan my pee cause there is no one to be with her while we are shopping at KLCC.

I guess all we can do is take necessary preventative measures.

Who would take care of the little ones if not us the adults.

What do they know of the world.

To all you new parents out there and also the experienced parents.... be weary of our actions.

May God Bless the little child. ..as My heart cries out for the little one.

Note: writer feels sad....and she's thinking of her little one at the very moment....
